The original "French White" Corningware was made of their famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.

When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides, into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available.

The pattern is attractive and can be used with any decor, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say "Corningware."

Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And being stoneware, it will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.

The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is "too good."

They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it "vintage," but the French White shape is not making an appearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!

Meanwhile, don't buy this stuff. Get Le Creuset for cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

These pans have functioned fairly well. The pans have good weight, but the cookie sheet still warps slightly and "pops" with heat (goes back to normal after cooling). The non-stick coating is slightly above average and will last quite a while provided you do not use metal utensils and dry the bakeware thoroughly immediately after washing. If you allow it to air dry or use in the dishwasher, the water will annodize the metal and cause rusting and flaking of the coating. Overall, a very decent set.

I have the larger version of this set which was purchased at BJ's. I love how evenly it bakes, plus nothing has stuck to any of the pans. The only thing that I must do is adjust the baking temperature of any cake or cookie recipe down 25 degrees or else it burns. I think this is due to the fact that these are dark colored pans and absorb more heat. Other than that they are wonderful pans.

I liked this pan because it was a good size for two people. However, I did not like it's nonstick properties, or rather lack thereof. I had to soak and scrub, and soak and scrub, every time I used it and it was still dirty! So, I've been hating it, but trying not to throw it away. The pan underneath had some kind coating that been slowly peeling off. I'm glad I don't use that for cooking. Finally I cooked a meal that I could not get off and that was that, into the trash it went.

I had looked a several web sites for a broiler pan that was dishwasher-safe. Almost all of them had small broiler pans, but they were labeled

"hand wash". The one that I ordered from Amazon was "dishwasher safe".

I followed the direction for care. It was amazing!! All residue washes off readily by hand; therefore no need for the dishwasher. Following the directions for treating the pan before use really works!! I am very pleased with my purchase. V. Gage

We were looking for a broiler pan a) small enough to soak in the sink and b) easy to clean. This product is both, although I cannot quite get the top half to lie flat in the bottom of our sink. That is a moot point, though, because nothing has stuck to it so far... Materials and construction are top of the line. The bottom half is also non-stick and can be used as a shallow baking pan. We are very pleased with this pan and wish we had known about it earlier.

I bought this gift for my sister for X-mas and it was not the greatest gift. I'm glade it was not the only thing I got her. She said that the pans burn everything in a gas stove. Now granted my sister does burn things from time to time but the amount that these pans did was suprising. She will probably never use them again.

I've had these for over a year now and I have one problem with them, thus the 3 star rating. The bottom of my bakeware set is peeling off.

I hand wash and dry these pans right after they've been used. I'm not throwing them around so there's no reason the bottom of them should be peeling or flaking. I don't go over the recommended temperatures either.

I'm sure there are other bakeware sets that don't peel, scratch, or flake as easily as this set.

I wouldn't recommend this product.

These pans are awesome! I save so much time because I can use my toaster over instead of my normal oven for a lot of things now. The broiling pan is great for steaks too. After searing on both sides, I throw it on the broiling set and pop it in the big oven, and the mess is easier to clean up on such a small pan. Go through the dishwasher nicely too. I was glad I stumbled across these!

I got these pans 4 months ago and absolutely LOVE them!

I did oatmeal brownies in the broiler/cake pan. Halving the recipe I had was perfect to fit the pan.

I have been doing mini pizzas on the round pizza pans. Pinching up the dough edges is all that is needed to hold the toppings. I prebake the home made crusts then put on the toppings and slide the pie back onto the rack for perfectly crispy little mini meal pizzas.

Broiling.. can't beat it. I like to buy chicken thighs and legs on sale and bone them. I can put two boned thighs or four boned legs on the broiler rack and they come out perfect. Steaks, chops and burgers have also come out just perfect.

Clean up... after broiling just toss them in a sink of hot soapy water and use a wash cloth to avoid scratching.

For baking I do use a bit of shortening to grease the pans.. brownies lifted right out after cutting with a plastic knife (to avoid scratching), pizzas slide right off the pans. Wash up.. hot soapy water and a wash cloth.. the pizza pans have each done a dozen pizzas and still look brand new!

I'd actually love to get more of the pizza pans so that I can do larger batches of mini pizzas. Get them half baked and then freeze.. Its great to be able to grab a mini pizza and just slide it into the toaster oven for a fresh home made pizza.

I am also pleased with the weight of the pans, nice even heat distribution.

I was delighted when I opened the box for this set. They are NOT non-stick, which is what I wanted - I am tired of replacing non-stick items every 6 months because the coating starts to give up the ghost. I have a Cuisinart counter-top convection oven, which is really just a glamorized toaster oven. These pans fit perfectly, leaving just enough room between the sides of the pan and the sides of the oven for the air to circulate properly for fast, even cooking. I let my son use the baking pan for mini batches of brownies or cake, and they've both turned out well. The jelly roll worked as expected for fish sticks (the official food of my 4 year old) - cooked to non-sticking crispy perfection without adding oil or non-stick spray.

Good quality items, excellent price. If your toaster oven is a little bit on the larger side, you'll be very pleased. I do believe that pizza pans probably would not fit in a regular toaster oven designed for '2 slices', but if you've got a 4 slice model, this is a great set to have!
